Production values are also quite good with some beautiful cinematography, editing, lighting and sound. My goodness I loved their music choices.
I would say that the CGI does look a little obvious and from time to time I did notice some issues where the scenes didn't look quite up to scratch.
I do think however I've been spoiled for visual quality since Game of Thrones so I would take that criticism with a grain of salt because it certainly didn't detract from the overall experience.
The setting and style of everything in the locations where also great to see and felt real and interesting. The way everything was shot also captures every moment expertly and really helps to draw out those story moments with greater emotion.
Stranger Things is one of those special shows that I stumbled across and after the opening I knew I was hooked. Its exciting dark tale is expertly woven through its 8 episode run time and I know I will be back to re-watch this one.
The ending is fairly well rapped up with a few loose story threads left hanging, with a promise for potential follow on seasons but the story is quite satisfyingly rapped up by the end.

Written by Charles J. With its amazing 80s atmosphere and creepy X-files meets E. T feel this show is set to impress. Within its first 8 minutes of run time I could tell I had found something special here in Stranger Things.
Its intriguing story gives information at a great pace and I never felt myself getting confused of bored and there were enough twists or turns to keep me interested.
This also had some rather great horror sequences and their use of lights flickering while yes a common trope fit so well in to the story I was on the edge of my seat every time the crackle of electricity shot through my speakers and the lights flickered.
The characters of the show are the true stars here, I loved every single one of them. They were all great with amazingly interesting flaws and the way they mix and clash with one another was fun to see unfold.

Nancy und Jonathan wollen die Wahrheit um Barbs Verschwinden ans Licht bringen, werden jedoch von Undercover-Mitarbeitern des Hawkins Laboratory, die die Schattenwelt vertuschen wollen, festgenommen.
Im Laborkomplex zeigt Dr. Owens den Beiden den Zugang zur Schattenwelt, der vor anderen Staaten geheim gehalten werden soll. Sie werden wieder laufen gelassen.
Nancy hat jedoch alles heimlich gefilmt. Während der Nacht gestehen sich Jonathan und Nancy ihre Gefühle. Als Dart stetig weiter wächst, erkennt Dustin, dass es sich um ein Baby-Demogorgon handelt.
Dart entkommt. Elfi besucht Terry Ives , der im Hawkins Laboratory absichtlich schwere Gehirnschäden zugeführt wurden, damit sie nicht gegen Elfis Behandlung einschreiten konnte.
Elfi erfährt zudem von einem anderen Mädchen, an dem experimentiert wurde. Labormitarbeiter setzten daraufhin die Gänge in Brand, was Will enorme Schmerzen bereitet.
Owen geht davon aus, dass das Schattenmonster einem Virus gleich Will befallen hat — die Tunnel zu zerstören, könnte Will demnach töten.
Dustin, Lucas, Max und Steve wollen Dart auf einem Schrottplatz in die Falle locken , werden jedoch von einer ganzen Rotte seinesgleichen angegriffen.

Brenner noch immer am Leben ist. Elfi widersetzt sich Kalis Befehl Ray zu töten und kehrt nach Hawkins zurück. Mike kommt die Idee, Will ein Betäubungsmittel zu verabreichen, um die Verbindung zwischen Will und den Monstern zu kappen.
Es wird klar, dass das Schattenmonster getötet werden muss, um Will von dessen Einfluss zu befreien. Währenddessen lockt ein Teil der Gruppe die Demogorgons in das Tunnelsystem, was Elfi und Hopper erlaubt, den Laborkomplex zu betreten.
Einen Monat später: Das Labor ist geschlossen, Barb ordentlich beerdigt, und Elfi hat von Owens eine Geburtsurkunde ausgestellt bekommen.

Im Prolog versuchen russische Wissenschaftler das Tor zur Schattenwelt vergeblich zu öffnen. In Hawkins wird das Jahr geschrieben.
Mike und Elf sind ein typisches Teenager-Paar , welches die Finger nicht voneinander lassen kann was Hawkins ein Dorn im Auge ist , Nancy und Jonathan absolvieren ein Praktikum in der sexistischen Redaktion der lokalen Zeitung und Steve hat seinen romantischen und finanziellen Tiefpunkt erreicht, als Eisverkäufer in der neuen Starcourt Mall.
Derweil fühlt sich Billy ganz wohl, als Mittelpunkt der Aufmerksamkeit als Rettungsschwimmer im örtlichen Freibad. Dustin kommt aus seinem Science-Camp zurück und hat dort seine Freundin Suzie kennengelernt.
Als er sie jedoch an diesem Abend seinen Freunden über seine selbstgebaute Radiostation vorstellen möchte, merkt er, dass seine Freunde durch ihre neuen Beziehungen weniger Zeit für ihn haben.
Will hat bereits düstere Vorahnungen, Magnete verlieren zeitweise ihre Wirkung und die Fabrik zieht Unmengen an Ratten an, welche direkt bei der Ankunft sterben.
Am selben Abend verunglückt Billy auf dem Weg zu Mrs. Wheeler und wird von einem unbekannten Wesen in eine Fabrik gezogen.
Widererwarten rettet sich Billy aus dem Stahlwerk, doch merkt bald, dass er von diesem Wesen, dem Mind flayer, besessen ist.
Er soll ihm mehr Opfer bringen. Nachdem Hopper Mike eingeschüchtert hat, lügt er Elf an, woraufhin sie ihn nach einem Tag in der Mall mit Max verlässt.
Nancy und Jonathan arbeiten hinter dem Rücken ihres Chefs an einer Story über wildgewordene Ratten und Dustin versucht mit Steve und seiner Arbeitskollegin Robin den russischen Code zu übersetzen und finden heraus, dass die Aufnahme ursprünglich aus der Mall stammt.
Joyce versucht währenddessen mehr darüber herauszufinden, warum die Magnete nicht mehr funktionieren und vergisst dabei ihre Verabredung mit Hopper.
Mike versucht verzweifelt zu verstehen, wie die Spezies "Mädchen" tickt. Als Nancy ihre Story über die Ratten der Redaktion vorstellt, macht sich diese über sie lustig, was Nancy nur noch mehr darin bestärkt weiterzumachen.
Max und Elf möchten derweil mehr über die verschwundene Rettungsschwimmerin Heather in Erfahrung bringen und vermuten, dass Billy etwas damit zu tun hat.
Joyce und Hopper kehren zurück ins Labor, wobei Hopper von einem unbekannten Mann angegriffen wird. Will spürt, dass das sich das Monster noch immer in Hawkins befindet.
Hopper knüpft sich Bürgermeister Kline vor, um herauszufinden, wer ihn im Labor angegriffen hat. Nancy und Jonathan werden gefeuert , da sie hinter dem Rücken ihres Chefs an der Ratten-Story weitergearbeitet haben.
Billy schafft es zu entkommen und er hat bereits eine ganze Armee an infizierten Mind flayer-Zombies zusammengestellt.
